100 percent GUARANTEED!

Have you noticed those red seals on the products you buy. I notice them but never really pay much attention. The other day I was thinking about that especially with cell phones. They promise you the world but seldom deliver. Most of us have probably resigned ourselves to the fact that what the world really offers in any area really can’t deliver fully on its promises. Is there anything or anyone that does?
Well In Number 23: 19 it says
God is not a man. So he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act: Has he ever promised and not carried it through? (NLT)
When we look through the recorded Word (The Bible) we have countless times where God has promised   and it has come to fruition. Sometimes it has happened that day and at others times it has taken centuries. None the less he has kept his promises. There are still promises yet to be fulfilled like Christ return to earth as King of kings and Lord of lords. Sometimes we wonder in light of our present World situation if he is ever coming but we know that his promises have come to pass 100% Guaranteed. So when you are a little weary waiting for God remember these words from Peter. The Lord really isn’t being slow about his promises, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. (really mean their sorry).
           2 Peter 3: 9 (NLT)
So when was the last time you said you were sorry and asked God to forgive you? He is waiting to fulfill one of his promises for you today 100% Guaranteed.

You Are a Winner

This is not some pep talk to pump you up and get you back in the game of life.  It is the truth.

I have just come back from a four month leave of absence from an illness.  As I begin to step back into game the expectations I have of myself and what I think others may have for me it leaves me a little overwhelmed and wondering if I am up to the task.  I was feeling a little like that this morning as I prepare for Sunday.   Then I stopped and had a time out with God.  In his play book I came across some powerful words of encouragement from the Coach of coaches.  Here is what I found:

“If the LORD delights in a person’s way, he makes his steps firm.” (Psalm 37: 23)

God spoke through Jeremiah, “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and future.”  (Jeremiah 29:11)

Paul wrote, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20) He goes on to quote from  Isaiah 64:4 “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him” (I Corinthians2:9).

It is all about God cheering us on in the game.  He believes in you!  Sometimes I forget how much faith God has in you and me, and we give into our own self-doubt and challenges.  I am here to tell you from experience don’t do that!  His hopes for you and me are great – even more than we think for ourselves.  You and I are winners- live like it! Jesus says in John 14:12, I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing.  He will do even greater things than these.

Now go have a fabulous day with God

One of my Deacons had the devotional for one of our regular meetings and I asked if I could share it on this blog.  He stated that even as a long time Christian he has found that just as recently as the the other day he was wrestling with issues that made him angry,  and that made him realize his temper had a short fuse.  He wrote and I quote, "Why are we not more humble?  Is being humbe a sign of weakness?  Nothing could be further from the truth!" He then came across a scripture that put his life in perspective, (God's devine appointment).  He read from Phillppians 5-11  Our attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had:, though he was God, he did not demand and cling to his rights as God.  He made himself nothing; he took the humble position of a slave and appeared in human form, and in human form he obediently humbled himself even further by dying a criminals death on a Cross.  Because of this, God raised him up to the heights of heaven and gave him the name that is above every other name.
So that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth and evey tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is LORD, to the glory of God the Father.
For this Deacon God had revealed truth and by looking to Jesus had an alternative to his anger and attitude In Genesus 4: 6-7 we read Why are you so angry? The Lord asked, Why do you look so dejected?  You will be accepted if you respond in the right way.  But if you refuse to respond correctly, then watch out! Sin is waiting to attack and destroy you, and you must subdue it. With God's Word and his truth along with His Holy Spirit at work in us we are more thatn able.

Daily Prayer
Lift up my spirit today oh Lord
that I may truely feel
that you are with me all the time
for pleasing you this day.
But should I stumble or fall this day
as I may surely do
Let you, my Jesus son of God
be there to see me through.  Amen

In September I was diagnosed with cancer.  Initially it was a shock and an emotional roller coaster ride for both my wife and I.  In the days and weeks that followed we sought strength from the Lord as we prayed with one another, friends and family seeking direction as to what to do.  In the end we chose not to go the medical route and opted for another alternative.  There were days when I wondered if I had made the right decision.  I have continued to monitor my condition with our family Dr., who has been quite concerned about my decision.  Just before Christmas I had blood work and an ultra-sound and on January the 8th went back for the results.  I was a little nervous.

January 8th my devotional read like this . . . The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run to it and are safe.  I will trust and not be afraid; YAHWEH, the LORD, is my strength and my song; He also has become my salvation.

It was these verses written on January 8th in my devotional booklet, coincidence?  I do not think so.  There is no greater source of encouragement than The Word of God.  God knows his children and he lets us know that he is there for us no matter what the circumstances.

As it turned out the reports were great.  I am cancer free.  I think my Dr. is a little puzzled but told me to keep doing what I am doing.  I am deeply grateful for a second chance at life and do not take this gift lightly.  I also realize others face different challenges with results that are not turning out as well.  However I believe God promises to come along side of each one who calls on him.  He does not take us out of situations as much as sees us through.

Whatever you are going through today may you find your source of strength in Him.

Father

Today I thank you for your Word and how it can be a source of encouragement and a reminder to us that you never leave us or forsake us.  I pray for those who are facing trials today or who will face them in the future that you would remove any fear or anxiety and provide exactly what they need in their circumstance.  Give them confidence that you hold them in the palm of your hand.  Reveal your truth to them today for your Word is truth.  In Jesus name amen.
